April Fool's Day

April Fool's Day released in theaters on 1986.It has been doubtfully placed in the category of slasher and comedy horror. The film was produced by Paramount Pictures. The film was inspired by Agatha Christe's fiction, And Then There Were None. The film has the ability of rising people's expectations up and then ending up in an anti climax.

The film was directed by Fred Waltson. April Fool's Day was made on $ 5 million but made a neat $ 12 million and above. The film has been put in to the genre of slasher because it fulfills some conditions of slasher horror movies. It has been put into the genre of comedy horror largely because of its anti climactic ending.

A few friends go to visit Muffy in her island mansion. There they encounter a strange murderer who goes on killing their friends. A few severed heads are found. Rob and Kit begin investigating the murders. They discover that Muffy has an insane twin sister, Buffy. They also discover that the person living with them till then was not Muffy.

This story line helped to make the movie a slasher. A slasher is a horror movie that consists of young teenagers or adolescents getting killed by an unknown assassin. A background of the assassin is provided. He is provided with a traumatic past that made him a killer. He is killed at the end of the movie. But then something happens that shows him to be alive and even more deadly.

Rob and Kit get scared. Kit is chased by the murderer and she runs into the living room where she finds, amazingly every one of their friends sitting. The whole thing was supposed to be a big practical joke for April Fool’s Day. This is why the movie was also categorized under the genre of comedy horror. Its unusual ending has led to a dilemma among horror movie fans.
