One Missed Call Movie
One Missed Call is an American remake of the 2004 Japanese flick called Chakushin ari which means “One Missed Call”. This film was released in the US in 2008. It is a horror movie. The Japanese film became very popular and its eerie music became a favorite among the people. The American version made some changes to the original. In One Missed Call, Shannyn Sossamon plays the role of Elizabeth Raymond who is haunted by the voice of the dead. Four of her friends receive an eerie call and they hear their own voices on the other hand just before their moment of death.
Elizabeth becomes afraid and is helped by Detective Jack Andrews whose sister had also died in a similar fashion. Together they pair up to solve the mystery. Their search leads them to a disheveled hospital building where a suspicious woman called Marie Clayton was last seen. Apparently Marie was abusing her children. At first they think that it is Marie’s ghost that is causing the curse but then they discover that it is her child Ellie’s ghost who died of an asthma attack while trying to make a call. Ellie was the one abusing her sister. Her death triggered off the curse.
Jack tries to save Elizabeth but fails when he is stabbed in the eye by Ellie’s ghost. When Ellie tries to kill Elizabeth, her mother’s ghost comes and grabs her away. The movie could have ended here. But the producers sought to pave the way for a sequel as in the Japanese versions by making Elizabeth have another call. This call indicates two things. Firstly, the ghost of Ellie is still waiting out there. Secondly and more importantly, a sequel of the film could be under way. One Missed Call has been directed by Eric Vallette and produced by Warner Brothers.
